On Friday, April 10, 1938, city of Kent Marshal Harry Miller was shot and killed by three robbery suspects near Orillia when he tried to arrest them.

A posse was formed to search for the killers.  They were all located and were captured after a gun battle.  The three men were convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
