On December 31, 1932, Officer Ellsworth Cordes of the Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Division was riding his motorcycle in the area of 1st Avenue South and South Horton Street when he was struck by a streetcar.
After being struck, Officer Cordes was thrown approximately 60 feet. He died at the scene.
Officer Cordes had been a member of the Seattle Police Department for two years and was survived by his wife and daughter.
