Police Officer Jaymes “Jay” Hughes suffered a heart attack on January 4, 2021, after he and other officers responded to an assault call at a casino in Spokane, Washington. Officer Hughes was attempting to detain one of the suspects when Officer Hughes collapsed. Officer Hughes was transported to the hospital and died two days later on January 6, 2021.
