On Friday, July 21, 1922, Officer Frederick Germain of the Spokane Police Department was killed during a pursuit.
Officer Germain was in pursuit of a speeding car being driven by someone later identified as a repeat offender well known to local police.
As Officer Germain was pursuing the car, a large truck swerved to avoid a collision and it drove into a ditch. The truck spun around and then struck Officer Germain, who was riding a motorcycle.
Officer Germain died instantly.
