End of Watch:
Wednesday, November 6, 1946
On Wednesday, November 6, 1946, Officer Oswald Anderson and Renton Fire Department Captain James Pullis were killed in an airplane crash while the two searched for a missing man.
Captain Pullis was piloting the plane as the two attempted to locate Gomer Williams, a 61 year-old janitor who had been missing several days. Officer Anderson and Captain Pullis attempted a forced landing when they experienced engine trouble, but suddenly stalled and crashed.
Williams’ body was located a few hours after the crash by two boys, hanging from a City Light tower. He had committed suicide.
