Tom Jones

Tom is a 23 year veteran of law enforcement.  Prior to his career as a law enforcement officer he served in the US Navy in “Operation Desert Storm”.  After his military service, he attended the law enforcement program at Spokane Community College.  He began his career at Soap Lake Police Department.  Tom came to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 and quickly came up through the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant and was elected Grant County Sheriff in November of 2010.  He was one of the founding honor guard members of Grant County Sheriff’s Office who sadly attended multiple line of duty death funerals as well as proudly participating in several honor guard duties for the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Ball.  Also in 2010, Tom was personally involved with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office first line of duty death of Deputy John Bernard.  Her served as the family liaison.  It was a devastating event for Deputy Bernard's family, the agency and the community.

Tom has made it a priority to be very involved with Behind the Badge Foundation.  He has been extremely blessed for having the opportunity to speak on several occasions at the Law Enforcement Memorial Ball and as the keynote speaker for the Medal of Honor ceremony in Olympia.  He and his wife Sherri celebrated their 20 year wedding anniversary in 2014 and have two incredible daughters, Taylor and Marissa. Tom said it is one of the greatest honors in his law enforcement career to be asked to serve on the Board of Directors for Behind the Badge.
