Cameron graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. After graduating, Cameron entered funeral service, serving an apprenticeship at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington. He attended and graduated from the Mortuary Administration Program at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, and went back to Mountain View Funeral Home for one year before joining the Bonney-Watson Company in 1988. After serving as a funeral director for a year at their Capitol Hill funeral home, Cameron was promoted to mortuary manager of the Parker Funeral Chapel in Burien in 1989, General Manager of Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary, Inc. in 1995, and Vice President of Operations in 2006. In December of 2007, he was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer, and currently serve in the same capacity.
Cameron has had the privilege of serving in a leadership capacity on numerous community boards, including past president of the Burien/White Center Rotary Club, Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce, Mount Cross Lutheran Church, Highline Medical Center Foundation, Seattle Executives Association, and the Ballard Rotary Club. In the past, I have also served on the Highline Community College Foundation board, the Hospice of Seattle Advisory Board, and past chair of the SeaTac Business Committee and Burien Economic Development Partnership.
Cameron has also served on numerous committees and task forces within the Washington State Funeral Directors Association (WSFDA) and our industry, including serving as past president of the King County Funeral Directors Association, Washington Cemetery and Funeral Association, and the WSFDA; and was the recipient of the WSFDA’s President’s Award in 2002. Cameron is also a graduate of the International Funeral and Cemetery Association’s ICFA University in Memphis, Tennessee.
Cameron currently serves as Vice Chair of the Washington State Funeral and Cemetery Licensing Board and as a director on the board of the Behind the Badge Foundation.
Cameron is married to Shannon Smock, and between them have six “blended children,” ranging in age from 29 to 17. Cameron and Shannon reside in Normandy Park, Washington.
